Mr Sherif Elshazly

An oral surgeon working in NHS secondary care and in private practice in the Midlands, and the founder of JSL Healthcare. He trained with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and has practised in the UK since 2011.

An oral surgeon, first

Most of Mr Elshazly's NHS career has been spent in secondary-care oral and maxillofacial surgery units, where cases arrive by referral: impacted teeth, oral lesions and cysts, biopsies, and the specialist surgical procedures that a general dental practice refers on.

In 2024 he founded JSL Healthcare Ltd. It is how he now sees private patients, alongside the NHS hospital work he continues to do full time.

Training, and the route into UK practice

He qualified in Cairo in 2000 and trained in oral and maxillofacial surgery on a joint programme run by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Egyptian Army Medical Corps, which he joined as an officer. He passed the College's training completion examination in 2007, and the GDC's Overseas Registration Examination in 2010.

Where he works now

He works full time in NHS hospital practice, as part of oral and maxillofacial surgery teams, and sees private patients in Market Harborough.

He is also an NHS AI Champion in secondary care.
